Discussion Posts

Part of your grade will come from participation in discussion on the blog.  Here is a rubric for the types of posts I'm looking for:
  • The best contributions integrate multiple viewpoints and weave both class readings and other participants' postings into their discussion.  It's helpful to integrate example commands or scenarios with explanations or analysis from the readings.  Pointing out limitations in the readings or open questions is especially encouraged.
  • Try to avoid posts that are mostly description or summary, without consideration of alternative perspectives.
  • Try to avoid "me too" comments that neither expand the conversation nor demonstrate reflection.
As the discussion progresses, I will highlight examples of good posts to give you an idea of what I'm looking for.   Always feel free to use the forum to post questions about the material.  It's never wrong to ask questions!
